Pathfinder, 32 m ceramic mural, Novum Bio Garage, Karolinska Universitetssjukhuset, Huddinge 2017. Public commission for Stockholms Läns Landsting

Ceramic tiles in varied dimensions and thickness form a pattern. The ceramic wall is thirtytwo meters long and is integrated in the hospital parking garage. To the right of the mural is the entrance to the hospital. Through a gradual shift in density and movement, the image’s pattern contributes with an orientational function for the visitors to the hospital.

Site-specific art work for the public housing block Kvarteret Skotsteken, Limhamns Sjöläge, Malmö. Process leading artist: Jamila Drott. Participating artists: Louise Bertilsson, Kristian dos Santos Gonçalves, Nelly Escalante, Anna Jönsson, Eric Löhnn och Katarina Tuunanen.

Every Tuesday during 2023, a group of six artists with functional variations gathered at Malmö Konsthall to create art for the public housing facility Kvarteret Skotsteken in Limhamns Sjöläge.

In the spring and early summer of 2023, the group investigated what art in public can be. Through experimentation in clay, collage, painting and drawing, the group explored ideas about art in the city and produced a series of site-specific permanent artworks. The project, that resulted in twelve separate artworks cast in aluminum, was commissioned through a collaboration between Malmö Stad and MKB Fastighets AB.

Holzbox, ZK/U, Berlin 2013.

Scrub Ritual with artist Anne Dersén.

The Holzbox was a collaborative social sculpture by Jamila Drott and Jim Brunnestom that functioned as a sauna at ZK/U, Berlin 2013 -2017. The Holzbox was a sculptural situation, allowing for and encouraging other processes and events to take place within it. Incorporating other artists’ work, the sculpture/situation blured the boundaries of artistic ownership, and between what’s happening in the moment and a meta-perspective. Assembled on-site, using found materials, the structure was created in dialogue with its surroundings. It existed in accordance with some of these conditions and in opposition to others. The sculpture was built as an experiment to explore the creative potential of a limited space and the meaning of the social ritual within it. It was the durational investigation of this spatial idea – a sketch in scale 1:1.
