Giant Bowl On Monuments Day
Curated by Anna Daniell & Sverre Strandberg.

"Vir Heroicus Sublimis (Man; Heroic and Sublime)" Jamila Drott 2010.

“Big inflatable sculptures, an abstracted medal table, a lonely spectator and a dystrophic marching band: Giant Bowl is an art exhibition taking place at Bislett sports stadium in Oslo, Norway 15.May 2010. Inspired by big sports events, this is a one-night-only sculptural happening where the sports athletes will be replaced by 22 artworks. Amongst them 12 king-size inflatable sculptures!
Size matters: Big events, tall buildings, natural disasters and dinosaurs: How come we are attracted to big stuff? The childish nature of the Giant Bowl deflates the intellectual thought that focuses on substance. Ideas are filled with air. Giant Bowl is inspired by the American sports event Super Bowl and the generic idea of big public events.”
